When it comes to the treatments that we perform at Clarus Dermatology, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) consistently delivers results for our patients. When we look at the before and after images, the visible improvements after just a single treatment are quite apparent.

One of the reasons that we have so many satisfied patients at Clarus Dermatology is because of our quality aesthetic outcomes from surgical procedures. The images here are from a patient that had a basal cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer, on his chin. Even though the scar is nearly undetectable a month post-operation, there is a lot of unseen effort to achieve that outcome.

We use lasers in a number of treatments that we perform here at Clarus Dermatology. The improved aesthetic look of the skin from even one round of treatment can be quite stark. The before and after images here are from a patient that had a significant amount of redness on the skin of his cheek and upper lip, including a number of dilated blood vessels.

The images here are from a patient of ours that had skin cancer on her nose. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Neil Shah performed Mohs surgery to clear the carcinoma on the nose (seen in image I.). Dr. Shah then performed a bilobed flap surgery to repair the mid-sized off-center distal nasal defect left behind after the carcinoma was cleared. After the bilobed flap, the normal contour of the nose was reconstructed (seen in image II.).

One of the reasons that Clarus Dermatology gets so many referrals from other dermatologists is because of the quality of our scar outcomes. In the case of this patient, the scar is nearly invisible only three months post-operation.

At Clarus Dermatology, we see a lot of patients for IPL treatment to reduce the number of brown and red spots on their skin. Contrary to what you might think, the L in IPL does not stand for laser but rather light. IPL is short for Intense Pulsed Light; the treatment involves a very high-powered broadband light - imagine a really bright flashlamp. IPL is an incredibly powerful device that can burn the skin with relative ease, which means that it can be quite dangerous in untrained hands - for this reason it is one of the most litigated cosmetic procedures. We always recommend seeing a board-certified dermatologist for your skin care needs and IPL is absolutely no exception. For this patient, Dr. Neil Shah personally performed the entire procedure using two skilled passes of the light at a relatively high energy setting in a single treatment to achieve the results that you see in the images.

We recently treated a patient here at Clarus Dermatology who arrived at the clinic with a basal cell carcinoma (a common type of skin cancer) on her nose. The patient was evaluated by Dr. Neil Shah, who recommended Mohs surgery to clear the tumor. Two stages of Mohs surgery were required to clear the tumor (image II. was taken after tumor clearance). After the skin cancer was removed, a Rieger flap was undertaken to repair the nose.
