We recently saw a young patient here at Clarus Dermatology who needed to have a surgical revision of a traumatic scar. Unfortunately, the laceration (seen in Image I.) was never appropriately repaired, and the patient was being teased about the scar at school.
Dr. Neil Shah performed the procedure in-office with local anesthesia. This was preferable to sedation or general anesthesia since the patient was only 10 years old, and did not need the risks associated with being “put under.”
The young patient was quite comfortable during the procedure as he used an iPad to keep himself occupied with his parents close at hand. In Images III. to V. you can see the results of the surgical revision, a much more subtle scar which continues to fade over time.
